You just need to press CTRL+M in game, and that's it. The adapter is now working great.Īnd by the way, if you have two of them, multiplayer works fine, even though the No Cable Launcher shows a pop-up warning about duplicate VID/PIDs. In audio tab select Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter as input device then apply. I could of course fix that by lowering the volume on the guitar, but decided to add a voltage divider in the adapter instead. Run the protontricks GUI protontricks -gui. This fixed the problem, but introduced another one: the signal level went up and the signal got clipped. I opened the adapter, and found the capacitor - then desoldered it. It turned out it had over 100 nF input capacitance, which is more than enough to create a low-pass filter with the guitar's impedance. I started to have doubts in the adapter and started measuring. It worked fine with the No Cable Launcher, but I had troubles with detection, especially with the high E string, harmonics and some chords (most notably G). I tried to use a cheap USB guitar adapter in Rocksmith. Rocksmith Note Guide (aka what is this symbol?)

So I thought maybe if I connect my guitar to the amp and then the ampto the rocksmith cable that would work and sound better, bug its not coming through at all.Rocksmith is a music video game series which aims to teach guitar by letting you plug in virtually any guitar or bass and becomes your personal guitar teacher as it monitors how you play.
It has like a black box coming off on the cable. I was looking at the push before, does anything like that work to receive audio too ? I know it's a lot more expensive but if there's something that does everything i would probably just splash out on itĪh I was just thinking about this and looking on the net and apparently the rocksmith cable is an audio interface, albeit not a great one. The device you have at the moment is probably not suitable for the purpose of a decent recording signal.Īh that makes sense, it's pretty good for a cheap cable still! You can record something and then convert it to midi pretty accurately it's just not great if you want the actual guitar sound. You would need to look at getting a proper USB audio interface that has a "Hi-Z" input if you want to direct connect your guitar to the input or you can use your existing guitar amp (I assume you have one) and connect the line out/headphone out of that to an audio interface.
It is not really suitable to feed a DAW for a recording (is my guess) The USB to guitar adapter that comes with the game is probably a very (very) basic audio interface that is designed to only receive a basic signal from your guitar so it won't be amplifying it or anything to make a usable signal, it is looking only for the frequency of the sounds which it doesn't need good quality for. May have helped to explain that as well since I had to now google it to see what you are on about there. Ah, well I had no idea that this "Rocksmith" thing was part of a computer game.
